Annual Events

Amelia Earhart Month
January is Amelia Earhart month, and Zonta Club of St. Louis honors her annually either at a Luncheon or at our annual Trivia Night (see below). "Intelligent, single-minded, highly capable, a champion of women's rights, and a pacifist, as good as any man and courageous to the point of daring, she was perhaps the most widely known woman America ever produced. Certainly she was the most noted woman flier in the world. Long after her death in 1937 on the last leg of an around-the-world flight she undertook just before her 40th birthday, mystery still haunted her memory. She was Amelia Earhart, a Zontian who was famous in life and perhaps even more so in death." --William J. Feustel, former managing editor, St. Louis Globe-Democrat.

Yellow Rose Award

The Zonta Yellow Rose Award was established in 2001 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Zonta Club of St. Louis.  This annual recognition increases community awareness, understanding and appreciation of women and celebrates their diverse contributions to society.  The award is named for the official flower of Zonta International - the yellow rose - a universal symbol of friendship.  The annual Yellow Rose Awards are presented to women from the St. Louis area that through their careers or by volunteer service, have made significant contribution to advance the status of women and improve life in the St. Louis Area.
